Garnet Barnsdale’s Western Fair Selections: Friday, October 25, 2019
Best Bet - (5) DAENERYS - Race 6
Spot Play - (5) VANITY GIRL - Race 7
60-cent Pick-3 (R1) - 1,3/6/3 - $1.20
20-cent Early Pick 4 (R4) - 1,3,7/1,3,8/5/2,5,6 - $5.40
20-cent Late Pick 4 (R8) - 3,5,6/1,5/1,2/1,2,4 - $7.20
60-cent Pick 3 (R9) - 1,2/1,2,4/1,3,4,9 - $14.40

Race 1 - (3) SWEET ANA HANOVER took this class three starts back and has been close against higher company. She races well on the lead and will be tough to beat if she gets it. (1) SOPHIES CAM has also been very good against tougher and should put the choice to the test tonight. (2) MISS BRANDI K gets a workable post and should get a share here.

Race 2 - (6) TYS GIRL has stayed flat and hit the board in all of her past six outings. A continuation of the current form is all she should need to win. (2) LOS BALLYKEELAMIGO has had some trouble staying on stride, but he’s in a good spot here. If he stays flat, he will be dangerous; your call. (3) MALCOLM G qualified well on October 17, and he has shown flashes of ability previously. He is possible too.

Race 3 - (3) ALYSSA MARIE has comfortably won two in a row at this level. I can’t see a reason to pick against her here. (4) JOYFUL KATE placed twice in a row to the in-form Eataams Trauma. Beating the choice would be a tall order, but this one is usable underneath for some value. (5) MACH ON is adept at grabbing shares and should be able to do so again with a good trip.

Race 4 - (1) WOO SHARK is a solid gelding entering a strong barn and coming off of two big efforts. He should handle the step up well. (3) ARRIVED LATE arrived early and held the lead last week; he should be a major player again. (7) MISTER GODRO is a razor-sharp horse right now. Post seven is discouraging, but he has shown the ability to take air; using.

Race 5 - (1) BAD NIGHT MARE  has won three of her past five and now gets the red hot Scott “Wrayzor” Wray in the bike. From the rail, she looks hard to beat. (8) ROBINTHEATM drops in class and starts for one of Canada’s best trainers in Richard Moreau. The eight-hole is problematic, but she certainly has the ability to take this. (3) SO LONG SUGAR won the 1-1/16 mile event last week and draws better this time. She had a tough trip last time and won going away; respect.

Race 6 - (5) DAENERYS raced tenaciously to get up on the line in last week’s effort. She retains Marc St. Louis, and she should best these. (2) BRAONACH has had very difficult trips in two consecutive starts and even managed to win one of them; if she can get a better spot here she could come out on top. (1) APRIL BANDIT has been close for several starts in a row. She’s a must-have from the rail in single-race exotics. (8) GREY BELL was another extended distance winner two back, even after battling down the backside. She is dangerous and should be included also. (6) P L KALEIDOSCOPE qualified very sharply on October 18. She can add value to the Super Hi-5.

Race 7 - (5) VANITY GIRL returned to winning ways with a strong victory last week. Wray should be able to work out a nice mile for this one. (2) HERESTOJESSICA was also a winner last week, but she did it in 1:58.4. She is certainly a threat to the top pick. (6) IDEAL TOY also comes off of a nice wire-to-wire win and should threaten; this is a wide open contest.

Race 8 - (6) SINGING SOLO won her first start at Flamboro before making a break and scratching on October 12. Those factors may help the price on what is a quality mare. (5) KNICKERS has the form factor; she brushed to the top and sealed the deal in the 1-1/16 trot on October 4, but she has also missed a few weeks. Don’t discount this one. (3) MASSIVEPAJAMAPARTY should be sharp off of her first win in many weeks last time; including this one as well.

Race 9 - (1) KEEN AS A BEAN takes a steep drop in class after contending against tougher. She’s in a prime spot here; top call. (5) DONTWANTALKABOUTIT may have needed that start last week. She has the most wins this year of the whole field, and I expect her to return to form soon. (3) DOVS SONG improved last week to grab the show spot. If Kelly finds the front again, she should hit the ticket.

Race 10 - (2) VICTORIAHASASECRET impressed with a three-wide swoop to claim the win last out. She’s very sharp and has a big chance to repeat. (1) GLIDE N GO steps down from Sires Stakes company into a much easier field. She has the quality; if she’s fit, she should win. (7) SUPER T has hit the board in his past three and was closest in his last, but he draws post seven here. I expect him to grab a slice again regardless.

Race 11 - (2) KAHLUA MORNING was on a roll before two tough outings in higher classes. She returns to the $7,000 claiming level and threatens to go right down the road. (4) WATT MACHS ME WIN had an impressive win three back at Leamington, but she has had some poor luck since. With an ideal trip, she could upset. (1) MICHELLES DEUCE gave a gritty two-move performance last time and finished second. She has only one win on the year, but she showed improvement in that start; using.

Race 12 - (1) ATEYATEFNGERSLOUIE showed that he can handle the distance two back with a game second place finish. His performance last time was also sharp; slight nod. (3) DANZIG MOON drops to a softer level here. He did well against the class higher and has a big chance here. (4) STONEY DURKIN won this added distance race on October 8. Leaving the title holder off your ticket would be a mistake. (9) JAMES ISAAC defeated similar at Flamboro two back and raced very admirably in the start prior He has a strong chance. (7) MYSTICAL BEACH has shown speed in the past, but is now faced with post seven and a step up. He could be a nice value play in the Super Hi-5.
